Iscoed Chambers has an extremely strong team of civil barristers at all levels of seniority. Members of the Civil Law Team are committed to providing a first class, flexible, on-time service which consistently meets the particular requirements of solicitors and their lay clients.
Members of the team deal with and advise on a huge variety of matters, ranging from RTA cases to the most complex and technically demanding matters. We operate at all levels in the civil courts, as well as ADR, including Arbitration, Mediation, Tribunals or Committees. Paperwork is normally returned within 21 days.
We set out below a summary of the main areas of practice of the Civil Law team, although individual practitioners also have their own specialist areas.
PI and Clinical Negligence
Members of the team deal with all forms of trauma litigation, including personal injury, clinical negligence and associated professional negligence claims, psychiatric injury, toxic torts, factory and road traffic accidents. We deal with all matters relating to the assessment of damages, structured and infant settlements, and undertake claims relating to the liability of employers, independent contractors, public authorities, occupiers, owners of animals and criminal injuries. We act under LSC funding, conditional fee agreements, legal expenses insurance, and for trade unions and insurance companies.
Commercial
Members of the team deal with all commercial litigation, including commercial contracts; sale and carriage of goods; supply of goods and services; companies and partnerships; insolvency; economic and other commercial torts; and professional negligence.
Chancery and Property
Members of the team deal with all property related work. This includes all aspects of landlord and tenant law - commercial, residential and agricultural; leasehold enfranchisement; mortgages; housing association cases; vendor and purchaser disputes; judicial review; planning, environmental law and compulsory purchase; nuisance; boundary disputes; easements and restrictive covenants; torts relating to land; adverse possession; professional negligence; construction and building disputes; and the drafting, construction and enforcement of contracts.
